We Beat 2009 - Focus on St. James
For
the month of June, Gayelle The Channel puts its focus on The City That Never Sleeps! St. James!
Home, Sweet Home.
This year Gayelle The Channel once more brings the best of St. James to its television viewers across Trinidad and Tobago.
The We Beat Festival 2009 is carded to take place from June 5th - 13th in the heart of St. James.
For the past nine
(9) years the WeBeat Committee/St. James Community Improvement Committee (CIC) has played a significant role in producing
the Annual We Beat St. James Live celebrations resulting in it becoming an integral part of Trinidad & Tobago’s
cultural landscape.
The activities have not only been successful in bringing together a multi-cultural community to
celebrate its heritage but also to share it with the rest of the country.
The 2009 edition of the nine-day extravaganza
runs from June 5th to 13th inclusive commencing with the Honoree’s Dinner and culminating with the ever popular Steelband
Parade with a number of cultural and social activities at the “home base”, the St. James Amphitheatre, Western
Main Road, St. James.
This year The Committee recognizes the contribution of Carlton Phillips (President Diabetes Association
of Trinidad & Tobago) and Anthony Emerold Phillips (Bro. Valentino) in the sphere of social services and culture.
The honorees are celebrated at the Awards Dinner attended by Their Excellencies and other dignitaries.
